Yes, why why why, indeed? These sweet little mom & pop shops are disappearing in Italy as malls spring up. We just got 2 new malls in my province–the exact thing I was trying to escape in the US…:(

    • Really Jann? Though part of me is not surprised. It’s such a blight all over the world but hopefully they have a way to go to catch up to the states or Australia for that matter. Meanwhile we’ll just have to keep voting with our feet – and purses. Bacioni xx

It seems to me that it can, and it does. Now there’s an excuse to visit Italy again :)
In fairness, a lot of country towns in Australia still have the small ‘personal attention’ shops.

    • There’s always an excuse to visit Italy isn’t there? ;-) This time we’ve got a cause to support!

I’m glad to be reminded about the small town country ways still hanging on. These shops in the photos of mine aren’t the most glamorous of course but I was meaning that personal service and sense of being valued and served as a client that I miss more and more. You got it in one, as always! Thank you so much for stopping by.

  3. Cool pix! I love olde-timey shoppes (and Italy’s got some doozies!)

    • Thank you!!!! You’d know all about that Garrett. Nothing escapes you, I can tell! ;-)

  4. Very nice pics! As all places, also Perugia in changing, but some lovely little shops have opened in Borgo XX Giugno lately … moving away from the centre a little where the rents are sky high. Hopefully things will get back to the centre as well …

    • Thank you! I know how much you too love Umbria….It’s been a little sad watching the exodus from the centre of PG in recent years but I have faith that slowly slowly things will improve. I noticed the changes in Borgo XX Giugno last year in fact. Lots of interesting new enterprises by the look of things. I can’t wait to get back again…
