I bought one of these brooms last weekend when I was at the chestnut festival with Heather…..I love them. Mine is now sitting in the kitchen in Vergemoli. There is a huge Halloween festival at the Devil’s Bridge tomorrow night. Unfortunately heavy rain is forecast. It won’t matter much to me as I leave mid afternoon for a night in Florence on my way home.

Dear Debra! Thank you for the latest! I could scarcely believe it when I read the other day you were homeward bound again! Have a safe trip. Your rustic new broom must look wonderful in that beautiful kitchen.

I adore these brooms–they are used in My Sicilian Village & are perfect for a midnight ride through the skies. (Such an improvement on the electric blowers used in the US!)

Me too Jann! They’re almost too beautiful to sweep with, don’t you think? But sweep with them they do. Those blowers are ridiculous aren’t they? ;-). I bet you don’t even own a vacuum anymore either! x

What a witty way to present for halloween, which definitely is not our thing.
I am more enamoured by the lovely shutters that provide ample privacy even when open, and the nostalgic zinc eaves – to hear the pitter patter of the rain… perfect for a cozy time of tea/coffee with some sweet violin music.

Ha, perfectly subtle, and perfect brooms. I imagine Strega Nona living beyond the flying shutters, and she will soon emerge to choose which (or witch) broom will fly across the harvest moon this evening…
Smiles to you, Janine. May the ones you bring to others return to you tenfold… (a spell, for Halloween : ) ~ LIly

Looks like a coven there!! We had heavy downpours in Pisa & Bologna too last night but it didn’t seem to put too many off, especially the students round here. Bet there were some sore heads this morning – good job it’s a national holiday!

Haha Helen…quite. For some reason or another the Italians have embraced Halloween ‘in pieno’. Any excuse to dress up and parade is a good one, no? 😉 Happy to know you’re there. Buon divertimento!! x
