About

Welcome aboard e benvenuti di cuore,

Destination Umbria is a voyage of discovery.  A kind of self-styled, play it by ear, unchartered guide to pulling together the threads of a dream, a sense of destiny even, into something that others can see and feel for themselves.  I fully expect this page to change several times over its life and that’s fine I think.  As the story unfolds for my very welcome readers so it does for me.  I just hope some of you can take away a little inspiration from the blog and maybe even find moments that resonate with your own travel experience.

And of course, I’d love to hear from you.  Please leave a comment or email me at janine@janinevasta.com

PS. This photo really says it all.  That’s me in the dark glasses and stripes, a tavola in the tiny hamlet of Magione, just outside Perugia.  Tania and Salvatore (she’s Umbrian, he’s Sicilian), a sweet, generous couple I know only a little, invited me to lunch with a group of people I didn’t know at all.  It was the first really warm weekend of the year, back in May and we made the most of it.  I was on my own.  I’m a shocking introvert by nature.  And yet it was ]the most wonderful day.
